Vernacular

As I was sitting down, during my lecture for Design and Subculture,
taking down my notes; I had felt that this subject was pretty interesting.
My enjoyment for Academic Core subjects during the pass was very minor.
Thinking about Culture and how it influences us in Style which means,
A visual language on beliefs and values, this is from a very experienced Lecturer in Design.
Has made me think beyond the limits of Culture.

Let me snap an insert from the dictionary for both style and culture. From an Academic source called the Dictionary.

Now it clearly defines what both words mean.
However, I had felt that many ethnicity have their own foundations of beliefs and values.
This is how cultures are met.
We have generic terms that define a culture within the society we live in.
Some examples of Cultures that linger into our society are:
  • Goths
  • Harajuku
  • CosPlay
  • Socialite
  • Hip-Hop
  • Reggae
  • Hippy
  • Gypsy
  • Communism
  • Gays
  • Cross-Dressers
  • Socio-Cults
It is a list that can go on. We see these as groups although, by learning and defining an individual's own visual language we classify or put into a category of culture that has been made to be a belief or a value for that individual. However, all the significant knowledge from this subject has sunk into my brain and I have taken this very seriously. Language is what I feel that is important and portrays that specific culture so I've learnt. Quoted by my lecturer " The way you empower others is by the way you use language." true? well I was taken away, by this statement he had made because to me this is the honest truth. The importance of how an individual uses language.

This is a thought that I would like to share amongst myself and readers. Which may or may not endeavor for all.

Style is Me and it defines my mood, my thoughts, my inspiration and my likings from day to day. So far this what style means to me...
